Registration

Your time is valuable and we don’t want to waste it. That’s why we ask you to register as a professional nanny and complete referencing first before we introduce you to families. If we don’t think we can help we’ll let you know.

Checks & references

Our vetting

We’re looking for professional full day nannies so we’ll assess your childcare experience and qualifications, taking into account:

years working as a professional nanny
any childcare qualifications
and any other early years childcare roles including as a childminder or in a nursery.

During our vetting process, we’ll check:

Two references, one has to be a full time childcare role.
Your right to work in the UK.
Your Enhanced DBS and pay for a new one if it’s out of date.
Your first aid certificate is less than 3 years old and help you update it if needed.

We want you to be employed legally and taken care of in your role. That’s why we continue to support you and the family once you start work.

Contracts – We’ll draft your contract and support teasing out any issues with role expectations
Taxes & pensions – We’ll register you with HMRC and the pensions regulator
DBS checks & first aid – We’ll process and pay for an enhanced DBS check for you and help you book a First Aid course if needed
Payroll – We’ll issue your payslip and make sure your income tax, National Insurance and pension are correctly paid. Your employer will pay your net wage to you directly

Your pay

You set your rate.

We believe you need to be paid properly for the important work you do.

This means that you set your rate based on your experience.

We don’t recommend setting a rate over £22ph (gross) because this will limit your chance of finding a role with us.

You might be wondering

How do your fees work?

It’s free for nannies to use our platform. We don’t take any money from your salary.

Will Koru Kids be my employer?

No. You’ll be employed directly by the family. We’ll make sure it’s all legal and your taxes and pension are paid.

Are you just in London?

Yes…for now. We plan to expand soon so you can still register and we’ll let you know when we have families near you.

How does the employment contract work?

We start off with our standard contract. However, you and the family can request changes. We include a section on duties so expectations are set upfront. We also include standard terms to make sure both you and the family know where you stand.

What if I don't have a DBS or First Aid Certificate?

You’ll need an up to date Enhanced DBS check and First Aid certificate. If these are out of date or you don’t have one then speak to our team who will help you.

How will I be paid?

You’ll be paid monthly through Koru Kids—we’ll send you your payslip, and handle everything to do with HMRC, tax, and your pension.
