Nanny vs. Nursery

  • Childcare at home: nannies offer personalised care in your home. Your little one gets to stay in their familiar environment in the rhythm and routine they’re used to.
  • Personalised care: nannies can tailor your child’s day around their interests whether that’s spending time outdoors, visiting farms or splashing in the swimming pool.
  • Routine and style: a nanny can follow your routine, parenting style and plan activities tailored to your child. A nursery has to meet the needs of all the children.
  • Even on sick days: if you’ve heard tales of nursery bugs galore then you’ll be reassured nannies can look after and comfort children when they’re sick.
  • You get some easier days: Your day will also be less rushed as nannies can work longer days and you don’t have to rush for pick ups and drop offs.

All-in pricing per nanny, not per child

Could you save on nursery fees?

Nursery fees are at an all-time high, so for many young families a nanny could be an affordable alternative.

With a Koru Kids nanny you pay per nanny not per child, with no hidden costs for consumables. If you need full day care for more than one child, a nanny could save you money each month.

With our all-in pricing, what you see on our fantastic nannies’ profiles includes all our employer admin support for the whole time you work with your nanny, as well as training and help for your nanny and you.

Our finder fee is also included in the nannies hourly rate and in addition there is a £129 employer set-up fee the first time you hire a nanny with us.

Our nanny rates are set based on the nannies level of experience. Top Tier nannies can set their own rates.

You might be wondering

We include all the costs associated with hiring a nanny in the hourly rate you see on the platform. This is the nanny’s pay, taxes, your employer taxes and pension. We also include our service fee in the hourly rate so there isn’t a big upfront cost like with other agencies.

The first time you hire a nanny with us there is also a £129 set-up fee.
It depends. Some nannies might have worked in an area for years but not live there. Others will live close-by. Many are happy to travel for the right family and job.

It varies. Some nannies will drive and have their own car. Some will have a driving licence so can be insured on your family car.

All of our nannies speak fluent English. For most, it’s their first language, but many speak other languages as well. Our nannies come from a range of backgrounds, so just let us know on the registration form if you have any language requirements and we’ll do our best to send you nannies who speak that language. If it’s a bonus rather than a deal breaker, the number of potential nannies we can show you really increases.

As you will be the legal employer of your nanny, the contract exists between you and them. Koru Kids will write the contract for you so you don’t need to worry. When we set up your contract, we will ask you to complete our set-up form which will ask for some preferences. We’ll then send out a draft version of your contract for you to review.
Our standard nanny contracts have a 2 week probation period with 24 hours notice. After the probation period, the notice period is 2 weeks. If you do need to bring the contract to an end, you simply need to provide your nanny with the agreed notice period. We’ll be there to support you with all the next steps to ensure your contract is finalised.

You may be able to pay using childcare vouchers or tax-free childcare, provided your nanny is Ofsted registered. Some nannies will have an existing registration and others will need to register. We can provide you with all the information to do this. It usually costs about £500 as your nanny will need to attend certain training on-top of the registration fee.

Many nannies will have Enhanced DBS checks and First Aid certificates that are still valid. If they have expired we’ll run a new DBS and book them onto an in-person First Aid course before they start.
