About the role

We’re looking for a Lead to take our nanny service to new heights,  growing the supply side of our business by finding the best people in town to become part-time childcarers.

We admit, our ambitions are sometimes larger than our budgets. We're fast moving, dynamic and entrepreneurial. There are often more ideas than time or people to do the work.

This doesn’t mean an ‘all hours hustle’ culture -- but it does mean we prioritise ruthlessly, and look for people who can work autonomously (while still being great team players).  

Part time childcare is a job that most people haven’t considered before, and described by our nannies - who give us amazing feedback - as being far better than many alternatives (retail, hospitality, care). You’ll be helping more of them find a job they truly love, and helping thousands of families in the process. 

To do so, you’ll help us optimise the things we already do, plus find new and exciting ways of attracting, engaging and converting people who might want to work in childcare.

This means you’ll be a strong all rounder. You’ll optimise the channels that we already know work, and you’ll also come up with creative ideas to get applications in new ways that don’t involve throwing the piggy bank at the problem.  You’ll be a great number cruncher, with strong commercial thinking but you also have creative pizazz -- and you really enjoy working in the intersection of analytics and creativity. 

You’ll also be a key member of the Nanny Service Leadership Team, working with the team from Product, Engineering and Operations to make decisions on how to drive the growth of the entire service, and ensuring our nannies are performing brilliantly down stream too.

You’ll be reporting to the Head of Marketing and work alongside our Senior Brand Marketing Manager while managing a small existing team (who are fantastic).

About you

You are:

  • A problem solver - You can identify the gap between performance volume and targets, and find new channels, segments, partnerships or organic growth to fill that gap. You will be able to demonstrate when you’ve done this before, and how you have unlocked something in a previous role that has led to growth.

  • Highly analytical - you can use data to optimise existing channels - spotting when marginal cost is increasing, determining when creative is fatiguing, writing new creative briefs and working with agencies to drive CPA targets.

  • Fast paced - you’re used to working in fast paced environments (likely to be either an agency or start up / scale up), so you have the confidence to prioritise and plan quickly and independently.

  • You thrive off learning new stuff - you adapt, learn and grow. You take feedback well, and you’re always iterating on your work and yourself. You believe that a change is as good as a rest.

  • Hands on - while you will manage a small team, there’s a lot of execution to do, so you’ll need to be a do-er, and enjoy getting stuck in.

There are some things you need to have to crack this job:

  • Knowledge of paid channels - you have some experience in optimising paid social channels, working with an agency. But let’s be clear, you don’t have to be an expert in all of these from day 1. We like hiring people and helping them to develop.

  • Excel/Google Sheets -  You need to be comfortable working with spreadsheets.


Important things to know

  • Timing: we'd like to have the right person join the team ASAP, but we will wait for the right person.

  • Flexibility: the role can be done flexibly. It can also be part-time on 4 days per week, although in that case, you are likely to need to have highly relevant experience as you'll have less time to learn things from scratch. We welcome parents and would love to discuss any other working arrangements that make it possible for you to be part of our team.

  • Salary & equity package: The salary for this role is £55,000-£70,000 (dependent on experience), alongside this you will also get an incredibly generous equity package. It's important to us that you own part of the business you are responsible for growing.

  • Holiday: 25 days paid holiday (plus bank holidays) - these will both be prorated if you work part-time. Sometimes people need to take unpaid leave, and we do our best to make that happen.

  • Perks of the job: For any parents thinking of applying - we also offer 50% off Koru Kids childcare (up to a value of £7,000 per year).

  • Location: We are ‘remote first’, with access to an office each week and regular ‘in person’ days. You can do this role from anywhere in the UK and earn the same salary as you would if you were in London (where our office is based). We welcome applications from people living outside London. Outside the UK is more complicated as it has tax and other implications, so we are unlikely to hire someone living outside the UK.

  • Option to work abroad: If you want to extend the time spent at a holiday destination for a short period of time and work from abroad, you can work from anywhere that allows you to, so long as you can work at a similar time to the rest of your team. Of course you must be and remain a UK taxpayer. Important that you do all the groundwork on the tax and immigration laws to make sure that you can of course.

  • Regular socials: monthly team days and socials, with travel expenses and overnight stay if you need it.

  • Office set up: Generous contribution towards your home office set up, and laptop (Mac or Windows).


The process

It’s really important to us to find the very best people we possibly can for our team, regardless of their background, and to be transparent. These are important values to us, and that’s why we have designed the process the way we have. We do not ask for CVs or cover letters upfront. Instead, we ask some simple screening questions which are separated from your name and double-marked blind, in order to reduce potential unconscious bias. A typical day


You grab a cup of tea and join the company-wide (video) standup, to hear what’s been going on across the business. Today it’s your squads turn to present. You communicate that we had poor performance last week, but you've checked historical trends and it’s a seasonal blip. You also share the three things your team plans to do this week to drive the numbers forwards.


You are on a performance marketing call with your Tik Tok agency. You gave them 20 new pieces of content 2 weeks ago, and they are sharing some insights into which ones are converting the best. You make a note to do some more analysis to see how the new content is driving down stream metrics.


It’s time for your weekly 1:1 with Christina, in your team. You spend an hour with her going through whatever is on her mind. This time in your diary is sacred.


Time to check slack and respond to a few emails.


 A welcome break after a hectic morning! You grab some food and head outside to make the most of the good weather. 


You join the weekly Leadership Team Meeting with Product, Engineering and Operations to talk about how the whole business is performing against our North Star metric. You discuss various levers you think you could pull to help hit the next ambitious goal, and share some insight with the CRM team who are working on potential messaging to solve a knotty a problem.


You have created a bottom up plan for how you think you will achieve our ambitious targets for Q3. There is a 30% gap between your plan and the target, so you spend some time going through the growth backlog to assess which tests to launch now to find the missing numbers.


Kellie, the GM of the Nanny Service has a new idea for nannies she wants to run by you. You like the sound of it, but ask her if you can AB test the pricing structure. You re-run the numbers together to check if the idea is still feasible at a different price. It is, so you create some quick creative to run the test on Facebook.


It’s nearly time to finish but before you do, you open up slack to write a message in the #gratitude channel. Ella, who works in the brand marketing team spent time with you yesterday going through her content creation strategy for Tik Tok. You thank her for being so brilliantly helpful.
