Want to help us build the world’s best childcare service?

What are you waiting for?

Clever, nice person to be marketing generalist in friendly funded startup (£31,000 per year)

Koru Kids is building the world’s best childcare service. We’re making it easier and more affordable for families to access high quality childcare. We’re growing, are backed by fantastic investors, including top venture capitalists and business angels, and have won a bunch of awards. You can find out a lot more about Koru Kids and our culture on our main careers page.

About the team

We have an informal, hard-working and kind team culture. We’re all passionate about our mission and are determined to create a truly fantastic childcare service to help working parents. Our culture is friendly and fast paced – we are constantly challenging, testing and adapting the way we do things. We’re also really committed to working with integrity, doing the right thing and building a company we are truly proud of. We’re growing fast but we also want to make sure that we are building a company on really solid foundations.

We take great care with who we hire and all team members are superbly talented and really nice. If you’re brilliant AND humble, you’ll fit right in.

We need an energetic marketing all-rounder to:

  • Help us find incredible nannies and attract families who need to find brilliant childcare.
  • Create social ads and organic creative that grabs attention and grows our online community.
  • Use data to make performance optimisations across meta and google
  • Run our on-campus activations from Sept-Nov (and maybe some inbetween). We run a BIG student campaign every year to recruit students to be part-time nannies and you’ll be managing the plan, making it happen, measuring the results and hopefully delivering YoY growth. We’ve got a playbook we’ve refined over years, so you’ll have a starting point but we love people that want to put their own stamp on things.
  • Run growth experiments for peak times of year – this will include TikTok and Referrals but other things too.

We want you to love this job. So you’ll need to:

  • Have 1+ years experience in marketing, ideally in a high growth company or agency so you can hit the ground running.
  • Thrive in a fast paced environment – when you’re prioritising and multi-tasking you’re in your happy place.
  • Communicate clearly. This means when you’re working fast and everyone else is too you can explain things clearly, communicate issues and roadblocks so people can help you.
  • Be kind and nice. Sounds obvious but we have a “no dickheads” policy at Koru Kids. We only hire people who are humble, love to learn and are generally good eggs.
  • Be ok with ambiguity. Things won’t always be 100% clear, things might change direction and you’ll have to enjoy figuring stuff out as you go. Google & Chat GPT will be a close ally.
  • Have a strong data mindset and be motivated by growth and making KPIs shift.  You’re the type of person that would review recent social posts to understand which time of day, layouts or copy get the best results without being asked — it’s just how you do things.
  • Have an eye for design and enjoy making things look perfectly on-brand. If you have experience making Reels and Video we’ll be extra excited to meet you!
  • You have a basic understanding of performance marketing. You know your CTA from your CPA and your CTR from your CPC. You’re used to reading dashboards, making decisions and running experiments on Meta and Google.

A day in the life of a Marketing Generalist

9am: It’s the company standup where you hear our General Manager talking through trading performance and how we’re looking against targets.

9.30: You’ve received a brief for a new campaign, but before you get designing our organic social posts, you review our best performing creatives from the last 3 months.

10:00: You’re ready to get creative — you make a reel and write the copy for the voice over.

11:00 Time to catch up with your manager Emily in your 1:1.

12:00 You check in on how our Meta ads are performing and notice that one of the campaigns has a high CPA. You spend some time making changes to the campaign to improve performance.

13:00 Lunch! You grab a sandwich and get out into the sunshine.

14:00 You join a Marketing Learning session where we discuss how we can use behavioral psychology techniques to write more persuasive copy.

15:30 You do some analysis on which universities’ have the best nannies. You notice that students from UCL are twice as likely to be hired by families.  You email our media buyer to get a quote for an OOH campaign on UCL’s campus to increase sign ups there further.

16.30: You post your findings and plan on Slack and the team pile in with loads of other ideas for UCL. You decide which are great ideas, and which ones are low-impact distractions and let the team know.

17:15 Your reel’s had great feedback from your manager so you check it over one last time, research hashtags to use, and post it.

18:00 You log off and go and meet your friends for dinner.
