About Koru Kids

At Koru Kids, we’re building the world’s best childcare service, starting right here in London. We’re dedicated to making childcare easier, more affordable, and brilliantly high-quality. We’ve grown fast, backed by some fantastic investors, and won awards for our technology, people, and positive social impact.

You can find out a lot more about Koru Kids and our culture on our main careers page.

Background on our Childminding Agency

A Childminding Agency (CMA) is an organisation regulated by Ofsted that registers, supports, and inspects individual childminders to ensure high standards of childcare. Koru Kids became a CMA around four years ago but stopped actively trading as a CMA a couple of years later. Currently, there is no operational work required as part of our CMA—with one key exception: maintaining an EYFS specialist to comply with Ofsted regulations. We had someone in this role, but when we shut down the trading part of our childminding agency, we sadly lost that person too, in their full-time capacity. Ofsted has recently informed us that we need to re-engage someone in a nominal capacity only, as we are dormant.

Why we need you

We’re currently facing a quirky—but essential—challenge. Ofsted regulations require us to have an EYFS expert on board to maintain our CMA registration. At times in our past we’ve had many of these in-house but right now we don’t have anyone with extensive current knowledge of the EYFS.

  • Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is straightforward:
  • Demonstrate your EYFS expertise to Ofsted in an oral interview.
  • Become the designated EYFS director for Rua Kids, our subsidiary company.

This is the perfect opportunity if you’re already deep in the EYFS world—perhaps as a nursery manager, deputy manager, primary teacher, or similar—and you’re looking for a super-simple way to earn extra money.

What you'll do

  • Attend and pass an interview with Ofsted demonstrating your EYFS knowledge.
  • Familiarise yourself with the Ofsted CMA requirements document (think of it like studying for a quick exam).

That’s it. No regular meetings, no daily duties—just a straightforward, light-touch role.

(You don’t need previous experience with Childminding Agencies or really to even know what one is, in order to apply for this role. However, you will need to quickly learn the necessary regulatory information.)

Remuneration

  • £1,000 payment upon successful completion of the Ofsted Nominated Individual check.
  • Thereafter, an hourly rate for any work completed. (Please note, we aren’t anticipating much work as the CMA is currently dormant.)
  • The hourly rate can reflect your experience, and we are happy to be guided by you on what it should be.

Who you are

  • You have current, deep knowledge of EYFS (ideally you’re currently working in or around EYFS environments).
  • You’re confident speaking about EYFS standards, practices, and regulations.
  • You can quickly absorb regulatory information and articulate it clearly.
