After school nanny shares can be brilliant for kids, parents and nannies alike. Kids get to play with a friend. Parents save money by sharing the cost of the nanny. And nannies get paid more per hour. It's a true win-win-win for everyone.

In case you need a refresher on what nanny share is, read this post.

Our top 3 tips for finding a family to nanny share with

1. Chat to your relatives and close friends

Nanny share is a great way to grow a relationship with a close relative or friend as well as providing an opportunity to bond with a new family. It’s more fun for the kids and it’s easier to arrange.

So, make sure to speak with your relatives or close friends with kids to find out if they are interested in sharing a nanny.

2. Share a short message on social media

As a parent it can feel like you’re in about a hundred different parent WhatsApp groups, but this is where they could really come in handy. If you have a school-based WhatsApp or Facebook group that’s definitely the best place to begin your search. Other local WhatsApp and Facebook groups are also great places to expand your search.  It’s super easy and quick so won’t hurt to try it out.

Pro Tip: as well as Facebook you can, definitely also try local Mumsnet pages or even Nextdoor.

We’ve made this image so you can share it on Facebook / Instagram / in Whatsapp groups to help you find the right family to share with. You can just save it on your phone and share it.

If you’re looking for inspiration, another family shared this message with us which you might like to adapt for yourself:

Hi all,

Does anyone here have a child attending ______ school that would be interested in nanny sharing?

I have a ____ year old boy/girl and we’re currently looking for a nanny with Koru Kids. We’d love to find a friendly family to share our nanny with and split the costs. Here’s how things work with Koru Kids.

3. Get Involved with your local groups

Local groups can be great for finding a likeminded family for you to share a nanny with. Here’s a list of local groups we recommend you get involved with.

  • School / nursery groups
  • PTA
  • After-school clubs / sports clubs
  • NCT groups
  • Religious / community groups

Mingling with other parents and families in these groups is a great way to make new friends for both you and your kids. You never know, one of them might just be the perfect family to share a nanny with too.
